Visit the Park

West Austin Park has an awesome off-leash fenced area for dogs and we encourage you to use it. Please note that for safety, sanitation and comfort reasons, dogs are NOT allowed off-leash in the open field at West Austin Park. Even if you have the friendliest dog in the world, unknown dogs running toward kids and adults is unnerving for many. Please respect your neighbors in this regard.

Kids love West Austin Park. There is a selection of playscape equipment for younger kids and a basketball hoop for spontaneous pickup games. There is also a swing set in the area behind the pool, plus a few picnic tables. Please note that the picnic tables or play area cannot be "reserved" for birthday parties.

The pool normally operates open from 1-8PM for portions of June, July and August. The pool is great for younger kids and parents as it less than 4' deep throughout. A lifeguard is on duty at all times and toilets are next to the pool in the historic 1930s Tudor-style bathhouse. We recommend bringing some flip flops, a few towels for the grass and plenty of sunscreen.
